City Hall in Hammond, Indiana on Calumet Ave

The City Hall building in Hammond, Indiana is located on the corner of Calumet Ave and Highland across the street from Hammond High School. Hammond is one of the largest cities in the State of Indiana and is the largest city by population in Northwest Indiana. Located in the far northwest corner of the state, Hammond is a suburb of Chicago, which it shares a border with on nearly half of it’s western border. To the north is Lake Michigan, which has nearly two miles of lakefront, some of which include a beach, but is also heavily industrialized and also is the home of Horseshoe Casino, the largest casino in Northwest Indiana. The current mayor of Hammond is Thomas M. McDermott, Jr., who is currently in his third term as Mayor of Hammond.
