This area of Las Vegas was the original gambling sector, popular in the mid-20th Century until much larger resort casinos began to be built along the Las Vegas Strip.

The Palace Theater was a popular place to see a show in the mid-20th century, however it was closed in the mid-1970s and never reopened again. Today, the theater sits empty and rotting in the middle of downtown Gary on Broadway Avenue and is a popular place for urbex photography, even drawing in wedding crowds that want unique photos.
Gary has become a popular place for urban exploration, particularly with photographers due to the large number of abandoned buildings within a close distance and the easy accessibility of these structures.

Pierogis at Pierogifest in downtown Whiting, Indiana, a small bedroom community in Northwest Indiana just outside of Chicago and along the shores of Lake Michigan. The Pierogifest is a 3-day festival honoring the Polish heritage and history in Whiting, Indiana and features a parade, lots of polka music and as many pierogis as you can eat.

Historic Galena, Illinois, located just east of the Mississippi River in northwestern Illinois. Galena is a historic town, largely built in the 19th century and is iconic for its red brick storefronts that line the main downtown street. Galena is a popular location for photographers and painters and was also the setting for several scenes shot for the movie Field of Dreams starring Kevin Costner. The field used in the movie Field of Dreams is located about 40 miles west of Galena, Illinois in Dyersville, Iowa.
